WASHINGTON — Amtrak launched a new, limited-time “Twice as Nice Sale” this week, allowing travelers to bring a companion for free when booking a private Roomette. The buy-one-get-one-free offer is valid for winter travel on most of the railroad’s long-distance routes.
To secure the deal, customers must book their tickets by Saturday, November 1, 2025. The promotion applies to travel dates between November 1, 2025, and January 31, 2026. Travelers must use the promo code C121 at checkout on Amtrak’s website or mobile app.
Amtrak officials positioned the sale as an opportunity for two people to share the experience of private train travel for the price of one.
“Whether it’s a weekend getaway with a family member or quality time with a close friend, Amtrak guests who travel in our Roomettes will enjoy comfort, upgraded amenities, and first class service,” said Eliot Hamlisch, Amtrak Executive Vice President. “With our ‘Twice as Nice Sale’, travelers can share the experience and create lasting memories for two, all for the price of one.”
Roomette bookings include two private seats that convert to beds, complimentary meals, access to a private restroom and shower, priority boarding, and lounge access at major stations like Chicago Union Station and Washington, D.C.’s Union Station.

The promotion is valid on 13 of Amtrak’s signature long-distance services.

- Auto Train (northbound only: Sanford, FL, to Lorton, VA)
- California Zephyr (Chicago – Emeryville/San Francisco)
- Cardinal (New York – Chicago)
- City of New Orleans (Chicago – New Orleans)
- Coast Starlight (Seattle – Los Angeles)
- Crescent (New York – New Orleans)
- Empire Builder (Chicago – Seattle/Portland)
- Floridian (Chicago – Miami)
- Lake Shore Limited (New York/Boston – Chicago)
- Silver Meteor (New York – Miami)
- Southwest Chief (Chicago – Los Angeles)
- Sunset Limited (New Orleans – Los Angeles)
- Texas Eagle (Chicago – San Antonio/Los Angeles)
The sale is not valid for travel on the southbound Auto Train. Travelers should also note significant blackout dates, primarily around the Thanksgiving and December holidays.
