All ALB – NYC city pair which is 278 miles and 2 hours 40 minutes do NOT have staffed cafe car service.

ALB – NYC is the busiest city pair at the busiest Amtrak terminal in the system: NYP, Moynihan Train Hall. The route has among the highest ridership in seat miles than any in the system, often every seat is taken.

The rail passenger advocacy advocates at RPA and Empire State Passengers are aware of this issue and are lobbying the NYS legislature which funds this state-supported route to restore cafe car service. If you’re a New Yorker and route passenger, call your legislator.
